i want to buy this car (in california), its a lien sale title. the tags on this car expired 3 years ago, am i going to be resposible for the owed fees? or do they cancle them out once they switch to a lien title? please help thanx in advance

comeon.. do you think the DMV cancels ANYTHING.

nope.. the lien sale is a private sale between you and the person who has the car and is owed money. Meantime the plates/tags are expired and the DMV will tell you that you need to catch up on past fees.

Now there may be a limit, like if a car has been sitting in a garage for 20 or 30 years and is now a restored antique, but somehow I don't think that this is your case.

Best bet.. go on line or call the DMV and make sure. Those fees get really expensive really fast .. almost as bad as parking tickets.
