not the website itself, but does http://secure mean it's secure? i know that https:// means the site is secure, but would it be safe to give personal info to the site above?

if it is not a HTTPS: site it is not a secure site

Before giving any personal information like your credit card number, look for https - not http. The "s" denotes secure. Many websites even have the store logo along with the https. As an online shopper, I always look for that.

It has been my experience that sometimes the https doesn't appear until you click "checkout."

It's never totally safe to give out financial type information on the internet

Once you hit the "Checkout" button the site becomes https.
