I have caught five mice in my attic in the last two months. I use a humane trap, drive a couple of miles away and release them. What I would really like to know is how they get up there, Its a fairly new detatched bungalow and the only way that I can figure is that they can climb an eight foot high vertical wall, is this possible? I would`nt mind them so much but they are eating me bleedin water pipe insulation, its a real mess up there. Mountaineering Mice?

Cute as they are; they are a menace. With no offense meant at all, to directly answer the Q...."Through some opening in the house." Consider their tenacity for one thing; and the likelyhood that they might squeeze through an opening the size of a Dime. Without knowing at all the structure of the dwelling; they can sneak in under siding; through soffits and facia; cracks or holes just about anywhere.

They aren't strictly trying to attack you, but they are obviously gathering nesting material; and probably enjoy the comfort of your attic. They've also likely posted an ad in MouseHouse.Com for all their friends and relations.

As much as I attend to all Creatures Great and Small; I might suggest something a bit more aggressive than compassion and Humane traps

They can climb and get in just about anywhere. If they have a nest; you have a problem. They not only chew insulation, they also chew electrical wires! This can cause an electrical short and possibly a fire! If you use a humane trap, what do you do with them? If you let the go out side they will simply return inside. Traps and poison (harsh I know) is better then a serious problem or the house burning down if they chew through electrical wires.

LOL, yep mice are very good climbers. I've seen rats run straight up a wall. How they do it? I have no clue.

try moth balls if you dont want them to die...
floors me why anyone would care if a mouse lives or not
they breed almost as fast as roaches and do more damage
some even carry diseased fleas
