I don't want to go to the doctor for just a simple cold but i have been sneezing like crazy for about 2 week. I sleep with my fan blowing in my face, being that i have mitral valve prolapse and sweat all through the night its the only way i can sleep. How do i know if its a cold or if i should just keep my fan off? I noticed over the last 2 or 3 days i have been very short of breath and every time i take a deep breath i have to cough but no congestion ever comes up its just like a tickle in my throat. Any my nose has been stuffed up for weeks. Does this sound like just a cold?

Might be allergy or sinus problem. Hard to say--doctor might be your best source on this problem.

It might be a cold, or it might be that you're allergic to something. I'm more inclined to believe it's a cold though.. Albeit a very unpleasant one!

Try steam and hot drinks. At least you'll be less miserable. And if it doesn't work, by all means see a doctor: After all, you've got a heart problem already. You don't want whatever this is to aggravate it.

Good luck!

Point the fan away from you or make it blow out and have air come in another window or use air conditioner. See site below to avoid getting colds or flus.
