Yesturday i bought two guppies at the pet shop. They told me that the grayished bodied one and the yellow tailed one was a girl. Then the boy was just plain blue. But when i got home i did some research and the internet was the oppiset. They said the totally oppiset they told me the one that was the boy was the girl so that means the one that was a girl was the boy. But when i checked on my fish my bluish one had a fat belly(like she was pregnat) but how could that be that was a boy. So i feed my figh and whent to bed. The next morning the girl (acording to the petshop) was dead lying on the bottom of the fish tank. HOw could this be? And which one is female and male? Is she pregnant or not? Please answer...

Guppies are very sensitive, if you didn't acclimate them properly, that might have been the cause of death, here is an article on how to acclimate your new fish

Hope that helps

The way to tell the difference is to check the anal fin (the fin on the bottom toward the back) If is is wide and shaped like a triangle its a girl, but if it is long and round like a .... you know its a boy.

Your fish may have died becuase of stress. If She was pregnant and she became stressed, she may have aborted herself in the middle of birth which kills the babies and often kills the fish herself.

If your male has a big belly, it could be that your overfeeding it. Fish will act hungry even when they arent, and many fish will forget they ate and eat themselves to death.

yeah, the males have a pointed anala fin, the fin hear there behind

the females have a rather triangular one.

the reason she died could bve many reasons

1-she could give birth
2-the new surroundings were taking it;'s toll
3-the water wasn't as simlar as what she/he wanted it to be

and many more...

hope that helps and good luck!
