I wouldn't bother if I was you! Being drunk is very overrated.
You will gradually lose control of yourself, the room will spin and you will feel nauseous! The next day you will have a really bad headache, maybe the shivers and feel nauseous! Not a lot of fun really!

I am also 17, most of my friends drink fairly often (a few of them are 18) myself included. No drugs, but I do know people who have taken all sorts. A few of my friends don't drink but they still come along to parties and have a good time. If you hang out with these people you'll either come to like them or dislike them, but just because they drink or get high doesn't make them any better or worse than other people. I'm not saying it's 'cool' or healthy to get drunk, but people don't drink because it's 'cool' or healthy, they do it because it's fun when you're with friends. People don't become wasted, useless alcoholics overnight and I'm sure a lot of you're friends who drink and even get high will go on to become successful, mature adults. Don't worry that you're endangering your future by hanging out with them, just make sure you keep your head down and work your hardest at college and it won't.

If you want to get drunk for the first time then you have it right with the cider as that is what most kids drunk (and sick) on the first time, if you want a slightly more sophisticated first experience of my daily state then try a few heavily dosed vodka and bitter lemons or if that is still a bit bitter for you then vodka and orange juice. Get drinking darling as you'll never feel as a bad as you will after a hard night with no sleep. Seriously good luck on your first experience of drunkenness. Be careful though as some sweeter and less natural drinks such as alcopops like WKD and processed fake wine like Lambrini can do you some real real harm.

I wouldn't drink any spirits if you have never drunk alcohol before.....they are very strong and might make you feel ill. If you are going to buy cider then i'd opt for one of the more expensive brands such as Strongbow, Magners, Bulmers etc the cheaper ones are normally stronger and full of chemicals which make them taste foul. If however you do decide to have vodka then i reccomend Vodka and pomegranate juice (its absolutely delicious).

I'm not a drinker either, but I have tried some wine, those WKD bottles and Baileys, and the feeling I get from it is not pleasant at all. I can't understand why people want to do that frequently. By all means get drunk to find out for yourself, but don't get hooked, and be prepared for the morning after. Oh, and make sure you go to sleep on your side or your stomach in case you vomit in your sleep, you don't want to choke to death on your own puke do you?

I recommend staying sober. If you want to have a drink that is OK but don't set out to get drunk. Having a beer or glass of wine now and again is OK and should be a social occasion. Setting out to get drunk is just sad.

I would recommend that you stay as you are. There's no particular virtue in drinking alcohol and certainly none in getting drunk.
I have never had the slightest interest in alcohol, have no desire to inflict any ill effects upon myself through alcohol and cannot think of many things less dignified than being seen in a drunken state and not in full control of my senses.

You don't have to get drunk, so if you do want to try a little alcohol, I would suggest a small glass of red wine, Merlot, Shiraz and Zinfandel are all extremely nice wines. I would advise against drinking any kind of spirits .. !!. xx
