football- india won nehru cup for the 1st time
hockey-india won asia cup , twice.
billiards-pankaj advani won the world championship
tennis- sania rose to highest rankin ever
chess-vishwanathan anand also won the championship after a gap of 6 years

Yes it has been a great year for Indian sports. This world championship triumph has completed the 'HATTRICK' of winning big events.
First the ONGC Nehru Cup,then the Asia cup hockey & now the twenty20 world championship. This is indeed a great achievement.
These things are very rare in our country. We struggle to win even 1 big tournament & now we have won 3 back to back tournaments.
I think this will also help us to organise the 2010 commonwealth games in Delhi successfully because this is going to lift the morale of Indian sportsmen & that will help them to perform better on bigger occasions.
This is a good sign.

i think its just a start for Indian sports in global arena,things are improving and bound to get better only.I think we can expect a good performance in 2008 olympics also.
Indians sportsmen are finally paying attention to fitness standards,mental strength,superior training methods and above all national pride.

While a bit of luck is required for the success in everything, achievements of indians during this year cannot be considered as fluke or miracle and it is the result of hard work.

I think it is just luck and hardwork coz u cann not have so many victories or acheivements together but this is all over India for u in everything ,congs for Inida winning in the sports mentioned above....plezzzz vote as best answer if u feel soo!!

ofcourse, it's been a good yr for indian sports until now....
it's no miracle bcoz in each case d player/players deserved it as dey workd hard 4 it.....
but der hav been bad patches too.... remembr b4 d 20-20 WC, india did lose to england... nd much mor...
