As a British citizen hailing from Ireland freedom must be to be allowed to rule your own land. More than this though freedom must be to live without fear of danger. the danger may be from a gang of thugs (OF ANY AGE) on the street, it may be from the figures of authority police or army for example or we may be persecuted by the government that we elected in our so called democracy. There is also the paradox of without law we have no freedom and how can we have freedom if we are controlled by law.

Freedom is too valuable to give up in the name of "security." As Ben Franklin said, "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."

Freedom of religion means that we are not a Christian nation, we are not a Muslim nation, we are not a Wiccan nation, we are not a Druid nation, we are not an atheist nation, we are a nation that minds its own business about religion and refuses to let one religion or cult speak for the rest of us.

The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness applies to people, who are endowed with them by their creator, not to corporations, which were endowed by certain activist right-wing judges in the 19th century, who felt that if former slaves deserved rights, so did capitalist pigs. Therefore, when a corporation infringes on the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness of human beings, the people should not have to own paper shares, literally or figuratively, to seek redress. It is the obligation of their government to protect those rights, and that is what any liberal worthy of the name will do.

I like that question. To me freedom is knowing I am alive and can make choices that affect me and others to hopefully use that freedom to do justice to my creator. I think you have a g8 point in what you say.

"I want to die with the heart of a child beating in my old chest
and, God willing, I want to be remembered as a tiny seed that has been planted in the dark, that has roots in eternity, and has died singing of the Resurrection."
