There are numerous examples throughout history to illustrate the disasters of "absolute power, corrupting absolutely."

So, this was certainly a huge red flag to anybody paying attention. But obviously the voters at the time felt otherwise.

The idea of the "Three Branches of Government"; was designed as a "Check and Balance" function. Whenever; a political party has the majority or ruling arm; in all three branches, trouble will prevail.

Yes, it has been too much unbridled power; gone unchecked for too long. The price is extremely high, and all anyone has to do is look across this great country and see it in the faces of its citizens.

All we have left to protect our rights is "trust me". Our country's governance is based on laws that are meant to protect us from this situation. So many people are missing the whole point of the Constitution and Bill of Rights that its unbelievable to me. Fear has won out over even the simplest argument for any protection from our own government or the probability that eventually, someone will abuse this new power.

Yes, the neo-cons like to cheat in elections such as finding lost votes all of a sudden at the last minute in Florida to get their man in office!

I consider it a bad Idea when power sways too much from one side to the other, no matter what side gets it, but that goes double when it comes to people who feel they need to tell everyone else how to live.
