For the kitchen, she will have to buy one thing a day from Karen (the seed seller) for 10 straight days. After the tenth day she'll unlock a fairy that sells house upgrades, including the kitchen.
To upgrade your house, you need to unlock the fairy as above. Buy a few items (or maybe just the table) and the builder will offer the 'expand your house' option.
Please note: Unlike normal buildings, your house expansions can ONLY be constructed with wood. You can't use stone or grass to build house upgrades.

you have to first of all make a lot of money. on saturdays 6:00 am. i believe thay have it on the phone. my cousin had it.
