I am a senior citizen who has always loved Halloween. I loved making costumes for my own 4 children. Now I have 7 grandchildren and it is tradition that they come to grandma's house for trick or treating. They all live way out in the country and don't have any goblins that come to call. I live in a development, so there are a lot of children that come a knocking. They would much rather pass out candy then go door to door themselves. A great time is had my all!

Trick or treating sure isn't the same from the 50's and 60's, is it? But living in a small town, it's still pretty safe, so all kinds of creatures move about and all ages. My sis has always dressed as a witch to greet her tricksters, but we live in the country and no one comes! So the only way to be involved is to go to town after school when the youngsters parade around downtown for all to see. So cute....and....scary...! I still 'dress up' my yard and home though! Everyone needs a little fantasy in their life and I don't portray it as an evil thing by any means as some do. It's just fun.

I grew a few pumpkins this year and they will be carved and on the porch! I like to decorate in the traditional Halloween way. The more scare the better. I love to hand out candy to the kids that come by. Some years we have many and some years not so many. I love it just the same. Halloween is about goblins and ghosts and scary jack o' lanterns, walking through the fallen leaves that crunch under your feet and candy corn!

I do volunteer work at a small community center. We will have a "Fall Festival" this year.
It has got to be called a "Fall Festival" because a lot of people in my religious community will not participate if it is called a Halloween Party. When I was a little girl in the fifties, this was not an issue, not even at the churches. Our church, a Southern Baptist Church BTW, had a Halloween party every year. People dressed up all kinds of ways.
I especially remember one Halloween when my mother, dressed as a "gypsy" told fortunes, I went as a black cat, and my best friend was a "cannibal." Skin smeared with black cork and a bone in her hair. Political correctness had a way to go.

Early in the morning of Trick or Treat Sunday, our yard becomes the picnic grounds of about 20 ghouls, goblins, vampires, ghosts, and monsters, and their friends. They and their graveyard just appear like magic. People walking by ask where do they come from? We tell them we don't know, but there are loud noises in our attic and basement the night before. The trick or treaters enjoy the show. Shortly after nightfall, the picnic area becomes very quiet and empty. The noises in our basement sounds like cackling and weird laughter. In the morning, it is like nothing happened at all.

We love Hallowe'en at our house .We have been here for 23 years and there are a lot kids in our neighbourhood . Last year we gave away 150 chocolate bars. I ate a lot of peanutbutter cups while waiting. The little ones are my favourite . The older ones are very theatrical. It's going to be over before we know it.

I still decorate and give out candy even though it's nothing compared to when I was young. I think we had 50 last year. Toddlers mostly. Too many other parties and such going on. It's cute to see the little ones though. They are so adorable. It's over by 4 o'clock.

Well, I live in a neighbourhood with lots of young kids surrounding us....I always set up a table at the road, so that the kids don't have to come down the 60 ft long and dark driveway to the house. Put out my jack-o-lanterns and my bowls of candy, and sit down in a chair, dressed in my jack-o-lantern costume that I made myself years ago (to keep warm).
We get hundreds of kids. Ones that live here, and from outside of the area as well. I don't mind. It's fun watching all the kids enjoying themselves.

My house is legendary for being awesomely scary. Funny thing, thought ... it's the teenagers who are scared. The little tiny kids come right past the floating ghost, scary music, skull in flames, screaming rock, and white mask with long hair and strobe light, creepy masked man with wings, scary pumpkins, ring the bell and are cool as cucumbers. Teenagers are too scared to even come up the sidewalk.
