The current Padres started play as an expansion team in 1969. A prior San Diego Padres played in the Pacific Coast League from 1936 to 1968.

The franchise came in with Kansas City in 1969.

They didn't start playing baseball until they got rid of those disgusting brown and mustard colored uniforms in the 1980s!
