I'm a lot like the other dragon here. I am allergic to ASA which is the active ingredient in aspirin.

I am allergic to penicillin.

I am allergic to codeine.

I am allergic to the active ingredient in anti-nausea drugs.

I am allergic to a whole host of anaesthetics.

As a complete turn around from that...morphine and all of it's derivatives have no effect on me whatsoever. And by that I mean no pain killing properties or anything else.

And I am also allergic to a whole host of cleaning chemicals, which was sometimes a problem in the industrial buildings I used to work in.

For pain I CAN take Tylenol, or any generic acetaminophen. And also some anti-inflammatories based on that same drug (like Robaxicet with acetaminophen).

I am SUPPOSED TO be taking mineral supplements, which make me throw up. Ditto for calcium (which I need for my osteoporosis). I can't take Vitamin C for the same reason, or Zinc.

I keep on trying to remember to take my Flax Seed Oil pills, but most days I forget (they are supposed to promote heart health).

So, I am GLAD I don't have any other medications I need to be taking, but can not for one reason or another.

I sure wish life was simple.

Aspirin has always worked for me in relieving small aches and pains, and one other thing - if I start to see halo lights and/or tunnels in my vision, I know if I take two aspirin, pronto, I won't get the migraine headache that would surely follow otherwise. So I'm a big believer in the miracle of aspirin and usually take a couple every day. The only problem I have is that if I take too many, my ears will get plugged up with a slight ringing and that's an uncomfortable feeling.

Lucky me! I don't take aspirin either. It's a good thing 'cos I have never been able to remember to take things when I should, and I can never find them anyway.
Note to NasCarl #99 If you need antacids, wouldn't paracetamol be better, or do you need the aspirin for its anti-inflammatory benefits?

I don't even take aspirin I tend to forget about medicine so even with a headache I would find another answer like drinking coffee or taking a nap. I don't get sick.

Luckily, I don't need to take any medications. An occassional OTC pain reliever after working in the yard or painting the bedroom, but that's about it. After working with the elderly population for so long, I am sooooo very reluctant to get on that "doctor/medication treadmill"....once on, ya never seem to be able to get off....

lol - used to pride [?] myself on taking nothing but one aspirin a day - then discovered I had Diabetes II [for how long, who knows?] Now I take meds for that, plus hypertension and cholesterol which I am told go hand in hand with the diabetes.

I'd be very surprise if you find one here on Seniors. I only take one drug right now and hope I can continue that way for a long long time.

To anyone who depends on aspirins or
any NSAIDS for that matter, they all
absolutely eat a hole in your stomach.
