i want to start a new company and i plan to pitch my ex-employer clients. my ex-employer is not delivering good job, is constantly lying and cheating to their clients and i cant stand it and i know i can deliver an honest work for honest pay.
can i - except for my new clients - also do pitching with clients who know me already or who wish to work with me only?
I am in the UK, and have no written employment contract or any other non-disclosure agreement with my employer.
Am I at risk of civil or criminal legal action against me?

You can do this legally but you are open to a law suit. The main issues would be are you sharing proprietary information that belongs to your former employer and are you slandering them. Don't say anything bad about your former employer, sell your merits instead. Don't share any information about your former company.

I think that this happens all the time with new advertising and PR firms. Like the other answers said, don't say bad things about your previous employers. Just come up with a new tactic and sell it hard. Like if they did no market research, and you think that's important, then sell it hard.

you can do it but you will lose credibility and perhaps your reputation by doing so, as your ex employers will have plenty of contacts of their own.

this happens to two lots of friends of mine.
