I just say later, as I am a man and thus in the eyes of opposite sex, wrong by default. In this manner I have learnt never to commit myself to any time frame when being asked to undertake some stupid task.
I sometimes say, just a second, and if anybody picks me up on it, I say, be patient, your second has not arrived yet.

i never say that
cause i rememberer when i was little my parents would always say that to me
and a minute NEVER ever meant a minute
and it used to get me so mad and confused like "why would they say a MINUTE if they do not mean one minute????"
so basically,
that traumatized me for life.
even if it really will only take a minute i still won't say it
i usually just say "hold on.." .."later ok?:)"
or something ^.^.

For me, "in a minute", "later", and "maybe tomorrow" all mean the same thing. Especially when the game is on.

I starred you because this IS funny. I never thought of this. I have had people jokingly say, "It has been a minute." or "That was a long minute." it is never a minute.
