whats the best method for removing stains?

My son has megga pee stains on his mattress. Can they be removed?

Combine equal portions of:
Ammonia
Liquid dish washing soap
Water
Shake well and work solution into the spot let stand a few minutes. Work out stain with a clean wet wrung out white rag. This works well on milk, blood, perspiration and urine. Do not use on wool, silk, spandex, acrylic or acetate.

To remove odor, spray with white vinegar. Use the upholstery attachment on carpet cleaner. If you can get it clean and odor free, cover with a plastic mattress cover that you can buy at walmart.
