For years the ingestion of oysters has rumored to increase the virility of the human male. I recently traveled to a coastal area and ate oysters on the half shell and Oysters Rockafeller, for the first time in many years. Within 24 hours my wife and I noticed a dramatic increase in the amount and consistency of discharge (semen). I always thought the thing about oysters increasing your sex drive was a wives tale. Is it possible that it is based in fact?

I always thought that was a myth. I read somewhere that it was based on the idea of "sympathetic magic": meaning if something looks like a certain of the body it effects that body function. Oysters look kind of like testes. Some people think Rhinoceros horn increases virility and the horn is shaped like a penis.

But who knows? Maybe the myth started because it actually happened with some people.

Or maybe there is a "placebo effect" of something working because you believe it will. There is a lot of scientific evidence that human sexual activity is governed by the brain more than hormones.

Well there you go! People always said that oysters were an aphrodisiac, and you've proved it. Sorry I can't help with the chemistry though!
