Alright, I got a male betta for my 1 gallon tank (good thing is the betta came in the day before i bought it so it wasnt sitting around in the store tooo long) The colors are amazing!! It has like every color of the rainbow in him seriously! I can see purple, green, red, blue, teal, orangish. Its soo cute (i acutally thought it was blue but oh well i dont care i love it!) It is still a smaller sized betta but I named him Titan. I bought 2 kinds of food for him and medicine just in case he gets sick. I tried to feed him this morning but with no luck. It is Hikari Bio-Gold Betta food, and also TopFin freeze dried bloodworms. I guess ill try a little again later?? I dechlorinated the water dont worry I used Prime (always do). I was wondering when i go next weekend to clean it how should i do it and where should i put him? I kept the cup he was in from the store (its bigger than those little ones walmart sells okay so dont be mad -suggestion!) --I will say more in the next.

Another thing its pretty cold today and we had our windows open well i looked at my 29 gallon tank thermometer and it said 70 degrees! I turned on the heater in that tank but my betta tank doesnt have one! Yikes! The 1 gallon i have is like a corner tank and has a light on top. So i was wondering if i left it on will that help to heat the water more? Also anything else i need to know (i know a lot already just anything you all thing i should?) Please no yelling at me or getting an attitude/angry i wont do it to you. Thanks for anything you can help me with and suggest!

I hope your tank has a filter because that's what a betta should have

The light won't be enough to heat your tank over night, because you're suppose to turn it off at night's

I would recommend getting at least a 2.5 gallon tank with filter, and buy a small heater which is not preset but adjustable

They need temperatures around 76-82 degrees, that's where they really drive

They also love to have a live plant where they can rest on

As for cleaning, get yourself a small gravelsiphon, and do a 25% partial waterchange without taking him out of the tank (will only stress him out)

As for the feeding, it's absolutely normal that your new friend won't eat the first few days, it can take up to 10 days for a new fish to get used to their environment
here is an article which explains a bit more about keeping a betta healthy

Also, any time your fish is sick, it will require a different medication and treatment, there is no all in one treatment for diseases

Also fast your betta for a whole day once a week once he starts eating, this will prevent him from getting constipated

Hope that helps
Good luck

Yes a light would help heat the tank more and my bettas never eat the first time try and feed them so no worries. Just make sure he starts eating soon. When you clean him try to save some of the old water and when you are finished cleaning put the old water(not too much) back in the tank so your betta is not stressed with all new fresh water. When I clean my tank I put by betta in the cup he came in so that's fine. Also remember bettas are a really tough fish and can last through lots of different water temperatures. But is sounds like he is lucky fish to have a devoted owner like you!

Read up on aditional care requirements for crowntails, from what i remember they are more finicky with pH and needs tropical almond leaves in their water to prevent fin tips curling.
