Shaelyn Merrl Young
Merrl is to honor my mom I lost to cancer in 2004 and Lynn is my husbands moms name.Please be nice.What spelling of Merrl is better Merrl or Merl? Shaelyn is the way I like it but other suggestions are welcome.Thanks !

I love Merrlyn that was my orignal middle name but when I put it on her before everyone said it was awful and dumb.Victoria Merrlyn was my first choice.I think I will stick with Merrlyn for middle name but need a good first name.

I really like the name you have chosen!
Shaelyn Merl Young is how I would do it if those are the two spellings you would like to use.
I do like the suggested Meryl but not sure that is how it is pronounced.

Shaelyn is pretty. For Merrl.. I'm not sure if you are pronouncing it Merril or Merl. If it is pronounced Merril, I would spell it Meryl or Merryl so people know how to pronounce it. If its pronounced Merl, spell it like that, simple will be better since the first name is kind of crazy.

I think it is pretty. I would go with whatever spelling your Mother used if it is Merrl go with that. I am sorry about your Mom. Good luck with your decision. At least you are most of the way decided!

I love Shaelyn, the spelling is great. I would spell Merri however your Mom did to honor her.

i like the Victoria Merrlyn now that you explained why .i have a cousin named Merle and i knew a man by the same name and spelling.it is not a common name but it is a name.so good luck.sorry about your loss i lost my mom when i was only 14.congratulations on your baby!

I don't have an opinion about which is better spelling, but when I saw the two choices, I thought Merrl rhymed with Carol, and Merl rhymed with Earl.

I like what you have picked out but if you want some other options there are: Shaylynn Merryl or Shaylynn Merl. (I'm not sure how you are pronouncing it).
Or as one other suggested Shae Merrlyn.

Shea Merrlyn Young is definitely better. . but in todays society "different" names give children a hard time in school. . maybe you should just give her the middle name. .

I would spell "Merrl" just like your mom did.
My best friend's daughter is named Shaylyn. I love the name.
