Hello. I am currently taking a birth controll called Yazz because of my PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). It has been 12 days since my last period. I had an upper respritory infection and I am guessing that it caused my period to be a bit abnormal. I was only on it for 2 days. I do have sex with my boyfriend regularly. We don't use protection. It has been 10 days later that I have used the restroom and found a light brown discharge. Also, since then (and now it is the 12th day) I have had light pink discharge. My brests are not sore but the nipples are very sensative. I am not really sure what it is. When I first saw it I was a bit weirded out. I have never really seen this before and do not know what it is. Please help. Thank you.

Sometimes I get this type of discharge when ovulating. It happens almost every month mid cycle. It depends on your cycle whether this could be a possibility. Also, antibiotics can cause your birth control not to work effectively. If you are concerned about being pregnant, take a pregnancy test.

Don't want to scare ya, but I had light pink/brownish discharge before I found out I was pregnant. I had very sensitive nipples also.

If you had a very light period, it could have been implantation bleeding if you got pregnant, and the pinkish could be the remainder of that. I personally would get a test as soon as it's been long enough so the test would be accurate.

Were you on antibiotics for the infection? They will keep birth control from working and allow you to get pregnant.

It is possible that the infection, without antibiotics, has been enough to cause hormone fluctuation and break through spotting, something thats normal while on BC or not.

If you're concerned, take a pregnancy test.
