call a pro and get an estimate for a high efficiency furnace/boiler installed or see if you can update/modify your existing boiler to a glow-light system. Then you may qualify for a energy savings tax credit this year and you will save major on your heating bills this winter.

RE:
I have a Glowworm 45-60 boiler and I cannot get the pilot light to stay lit for more than about 10-15 mins.?
I have an old system in my house, seperate hot water and central heating. Luckily my hot water is still working, but last week the pilot light went out so I have no central heating. We have tried re-lighting it, but it only stays on for a short time before going off again. We have cleaned out all...

Sounds very much like the thermocouple (a heat sensor) has seen better days. The good news is they are not an expensive part available from many plumbing and heating suppliers.
Unless you are absolutely certain of what you are doing call out a heating engineer. It shouldn't take them more than an hour to fix.
It could of course be something entirely different so having someone take a look at it and give a professional diagnosis must be done.

It isnot dust . You need a newheating part . Thire is a wire which gets red hot and maintains this heat to ignight your pilot light perminantley. If it is defective your pilot light will go out.

Two possibilities here, the pilot injector or bundy tube have dust in them, or, the flame failure device, or interrupter is working intermitently. Either way, it is both a job, and a legal requiement for a corgi registered gas installer. Wait until morning when the call outs are less, and if you call an emergency who advertise no call out charge, find out what the hourly rate is.

you require a new thermocouple, ensure first that the end of the thermocouple is located in the flame of the pilot light as this ensures the gas valve stays open

Ring round local boiler repairers and ask if they give free quotes. it sounds like a simple repair but ours has cost us £600 and we gave up and bought a new one because no one could fix it.
