Red Wings are OK. They have a top 5 franchise value worth and have made a little money over the last couple of years. Also, for the most part, hockey is an upper class sport. Not a whole lot of unemployed or welfare folks going to hockey games. I know their attendance went down a little last year, play-off attendance was well documented but economies generally have their ups and downs anyway and with the salary cap now in place the Wings are in better shape now than 5 years ago, even with the decrease in tickets sold.

Save the Red Wings, eat more pizza.
So much of Michigan's economy is based on the auto sector which is, at best, a streaky industry. Right now its a downward streak and has been for a few years. My guess is, it will bounce back as the American economy continues to improve. The Red Wing's fortune will bounce back with it.
Until then, you want anchovies on that?
(just in case you didn't know, pizza magnate, Mike Illitch, owns the Red Wings)

No, with the Canadian $ at virtual parity and the new health care deal it's likely the big 3 will move some production back to the southern side of the border.
