Buy some carpet shampoo, in the uk i reccommend 1001 spruce and clean. (its in the lemon bottle) but any will do.
Mix it up and use a jumbo sponge. Dip into the water and squeeze out water leaving it sufficiently damp to wipe the foam over the indented area. Once wet, you will need a scrubbing brush to bring up the pile, once raised lay it back down in the same direction as the original pile.
May need to do it 2 or 3 times.

Never tried it but an old fashioned remedy is to put an ice cube on the indent then leave it to melt. Simple as that. If it works let me know.

This I've done myself: Rake gently the indents with a fork to loosen the fibres and then place a couple of ice cubes on each.

Put ice cubes in the indents and let them melt. It helps the fibers rise somehow. Pat dry and fluff the area up with a fork. Sounds bizarre, I know, but it absolutely works.

Just get a cup of water and fill the indents and they will soon be gone. Try again if it doesn't work the first time. Good luck.

All I do is pour a small amount of water in the indention and rub it with my hand. Works like a charm every time.
