From the perspective of Oriental Medicine or The Law Of The Five Elements,... your attraction to the color black,.. may be an expression of an imbalance in your "Water Element". ... The Water Element is associated with the urinary system in the body, which includes the kidneys and bladder. ... The Water Element is also associated with the emotion of Fear,.. the season of Winter,.. and the hours of 3am to 7am,.. which is the time of day when the energies of the Water Element are most active.

Very often a person will be either attracted to or repulsed by expressions (such as a color, or a taste, etc.), .. which is associated with an element within them which may be particularly strong or particularly weak.

If you're talking about clothing, black actually goes with a lot of other colors. lol My sister has a lot of black shirts, but, again, it's just because they can mix and match very easily.
From a color therapy standpoint, black is a very absorbing color. It absorbs all of the negative energies. It's grounding. It also feels protecting (in crystals, the black stones are considered strong in protecting someone/thing). Too much black can lead to an overwhelming imbalance. In color healing, it's best used with other colors.

This is a little snippit from my color therapy course:

Precautions
Black should be used sparingly, as too much black can cause depression or aggravate such emotional/mental conditions. Black also increases fear, suspicion and paranoia.

If you could like to add other colors, wear a different color top or bottom. Colors we like can often reflect our mind-set at the time. On the other side, an adversion to a specific color will also do the same. Drop me a line if you have questions. :)

Of course the color you choose is a reflection of your mood.

You can choose black all you want, which is a negative mental attitude, but if you add even one bit of color to that say a bright yellow, it will affect your attitude for the day.

red - energy, anger, sex, martial arts, war, sometimes love
yellow - happiness, brighness, summer
green - mellow, mildness, money, property
white - spiritual, peace, calm
blue - water, birth, maternal love
pink - love, ardor
purple - spiritual, higher existence, god
brown - earthy things and earthly thinking, solidity

These are some of the color therapies that will affect a person's way of thinking and existing. Many institutions use a soft green color for the walls because it helps calm patients, staff or prisoners.

Black is a very "grounding" color. It is also the color of choice for someone wanting to blend in to the background/not be seen by others. If your wanting to branch out to other colors, but can seem to break away from black, try wearing hematite jewelry of some sort or just carry the stone in your pocket. It could very well give you the grounding that you're craving without having to make yourself fade out in the background. If it's a self esteem issue, carry or wear amethyst and/or rose quartz.

No. Why should it affect one in a negative way?

Haven't you heard, the Blacker the Berry the Sweeter the Juice. LOL
