My son is 8 months old and gets his hair cornrowed all the time. He doesn't scream or cry, and I don't pull it too tight, but it looks nice and neat. I think if the child will sit still and not put up too much of a fight then it's ok. Micro-braids I think should wait a few years, well really, any braids where fake hair has to be added. But just little box braids or cornrows, I don't see the big issue.

A regular braid should be fine but those tiny braids really hurt on a little kid and be too pulling so she should start the braided part about an inch away from the scalp so it doesnt pull hair out

No, it's not too young. But whoever braids it should not be pulling the hair tight and all of that. That's really not good. small soft braids. They are just a baby, you don't need to have every piece of hair and all of that like some people do.

Braiding is hard on the hair. Baby hair is very soft I wouldn't start braiding until she was much older.

as long as you don't braid it too tight, they shouldn't go bald. I think it would be cute.

Please don't do this to her! I work in a daycare and 2 of our babies have had this done. Both mom's said the babies screamed for 4 hours straight. This seems like old fashioned torture to me and should be considered some sort of abuse! Now if you can do it without her screaming and crying then I guess go for it..but don't make her sit through hours for torture please!
