It depends on what stage of sleep you are in. For example, most people sleepwalk during Stage 1 sleep, and a lot of people wiggle, shake, or jump a little during REM. However, unless you have a serious sleep disorder, your body lightly paralyzes your limbs as you pass through the rest of the stages of sleep to protect you from injury. So for the most part, yes a person is immobile when sleeping.
However, I'm not sure what you mean by "planless" - is that to say that you don't create dreams while you sleep, that your brain doesn't reason during that time... or what?

People can work out a lot of issues while sleeping through our dreams. I remember thinking of algebra, geometry or trigonometry and if I worked a long time on the problem before sleeping, I often woke up during the night with the answer. It was very interesting.

No....Sleeping is a planned activity...Every behavior has its own meaning......We sleep because we need to rest physically..our brain has not stop functioning.,still working.while we sleep ........that's why we have dreams which are. the product of brain's response when we sleep.....
