is waterbug just a different name for beatles?

Well, no. And "waterbug" is kind of a common term that can be used to apply to several species.

However, many times the term "water bug", is used to refer to either the Smoky Brown Cockroach or the American Cockroach. Both normally live outside, but will also come into your home.

Cockroaches are classified in the order Blattodea, which is a completely different order from beetles which are classified into the order Coleoptera.

So no, they are not the same thing, although of course they are both insects, grouped into the class Insecta.

No a water bug is a large roach..beetels are hard shelled..water bugs are called palmetto bugs..
