I have recently been feeling like my boyfriend and I are on shaky ground. I've just been considering the possiblity of ending our relationship. One thing I have always loved about him is that he believes in monogamy with his whole heart. He would never cheat on me. He doesn't even look at other women. This seems to me to be a very rare quality in a man. Men and women, what do you think?

A couple people are curious as to why I am considering ending the relationship. I don't mind telling you that it is becuase he plays way too much. I am 26 and he is 42. I have always been with older men because I love their maturity. Now, I also love to play, joke and laugh, but with him everything is joke, he doesn't know when to quit and when he hurts my feelings or doesn't stop when I beg him to I get frustrated. He doesn't take anything seriously. Fun and play is great as long as there are serious moments as well. I was a little offended by the one person that said I sound immature. I have to tell you that I have communicated my feelings to him many many times. He is aware of this as being a problem. We may be able to work it out. As long as we both work at it. I am beginning to think I worded my question bad. In reality I don't see us breaking up. I love him too much. He has far too many good qualities to let this one thing even though it is a big thing come between us.

I am a lucky person to have a husband who has that great quality as well! It's like he is blind to other women completely. But he does know when to be serious. He could even laugh a little more for me but I have no complaints. I can understand what you are talking about, it's nice to have a serious time too. Good luck

Well, it is a quality that all GOOD men should have. I think good men are pretty rare these days.

I've been really lucky too. My fiancee is very devoted to me and I have no doubt in my mind that he would NEVER cheat. My guy doesnt look at other women either, well at least not when I'm around. (Looking doesn't bother me as long as he doesn't do it when I'm around. I think its disrespectful to oogle at another person when you are with your partner)

I'm just curious why you want to leave him.

Hope this answer makes sense and good luck with whatever you decide to do.

some men were just brought up that way. Mine's the same way, he thinks its so important to be faithful. It's rare, but if you're wondering about ending the relationship just because you think you'll never find it again, don't let that be a factor if there are many other reasons you're unhappy. There are others out there like him.

Not a rare quality for a man to believe in monogamy...but a rare thing for a man to NEVER LOOK at another woman....that I don't believe....unless he is blind or wearing a hood over his head all the time.

EDIT: I said "look"....and I have caught my hubby looking at other women....just looking when he says that he doesn't...It is only human nature to look.....and to say that you NEVER LOOK at the opposite sex EVER.....that is a hard pill to swallow.

It sounds like your boyfriend needs to take life a little bit more serious....there is time for fun and jokes but there are times you have to be mature and take things seriously. If this the only thing you have to complain about concerning your boyfriend...I think you and he will be fine.

If he doesnt look on other women? then what makes your relationship shaky? why do you wanna end it? If he has this so called rare quality then why would you want to lose him.

Answer those question and you will find that theres no need for you to ask.

The thing you have to remember is, there are serious moments with your man, your ignoring them, it's when the play is light and less intense......... Pick your battles sweetheart, and in the scheme of things, it sounds like you're making this battle huge......... it doesn't have to be......... life is serious enough without us adding to the drama, let your man be fun and playful.......... there might come a time when you pray that he is that way once again......... appreciate what you have............. don't try to change something that sounds like it's ingrained..........

Not if they respect you. If they respect you, and if they are interested in you, why would they cheat or want anything else?

But your question is "If I dump the guy I am dating, can I find another who won't cheat on me?".

I thought women were supposed to be better at communication than men, but you can't even express yourself in a straight-forward manner, and I don't know why your relationship is on "shaky ground" (why you are feeling disinterested) from your question. You sound immature.

My ex-husband was the same.....when it came to fidelity he was a man of great integrity.......but nonetheless we had a miserable life together for many reasons. The fact that he was a faithful man wasn't good enough to compensate for all the other area he was lacking judgment.
