The answer is NO. They might end up 6th or 7th seed at best in the West.
For those people who think that they will do ok without him because they have other good player in Tony, Manu, Finley, Bowen......etc.... Then let me ask you, who would set a good screen and draw attention for Tony and Manu to be effective??? Who would ccomand doulble team for Finley and Robert to have open shots??? What about blocks in the paint?? Rebound?? Who'd Guard opponent's big man??
Don't take him for granted. Without him they might do so so in regular season. But I don't think they can make it out the first round of the playoff. In my opion he is one of the guy can affect the outcome of the game without touching the ball or running the offense through him.

Tim Duncan is a key presence on the floor when the Spurs play. He is not a flashy player but he is always a dependable player and necessary to the team strategy as it stands at this time. You don't just lose a person who frequently turns in a triple double evening and move on. However, these thoughts were around and the same questions were asked about David Robinson. As Tim gets ready to move on, Pop will have either a replacement in line or a new game strategy set up to replace Tim. No long winning team with the consistency of the Spurs relies on any one player. If Parker is out, someone else moves in even if he is the MVP, If Tim is hurt someone has to step up. It's what makes professional basketball and a boring team like the Spurs a reliable team to watch and plan on seeing in the playoffs.

Yes. They would be a strong team, just not a championship team. You have to understand what Duncan do for the team. He doesn't score a lot of points anymore. He spreads the floor by posting up, spreading the D's concentration and maybe forcing a doubleteam. Second he is the major presence on defense. And third he does all the little things the team needs to win. No team can lose a player like him and be a championship team.

They would still have a strong team, but I don't think championship caliber...unless they replaced him with another star player.

i think so. they rely on him sometimes but he isn't the only star player. they still have T.Parker M.Ginobile M.Finley F.Oberto and B.Bowen. They would probably make it to the second round of the playoffs without him. maybe third

Well, it depends who they get in return for Tim D. If they dont get anyone though, they still will be alright, just not the best. Maybe 6th seed in the west.
