Columbus himself never said the world was round - he thought it was pear shaped and about a quarter of its actual size.
Also, Columbus didn't actually set foot on mainland America, the closest he came was the Bahamas.

I don't know what shape he thought it was, but he didn't think it was flat or else he wouldn't have taken his voyage. He set out to prove it wasn't flat.

I though he thought it was round - In order to prove it, he tried to sail to India by a different direction but ended up in America. Old fool, ha ha ha.

flat.why isnt it flat and roads jus straight instead of loads of bloomin corners and roundabouts that make you dizzy.if it is round how come you never hear of anyone fallin off.you could then fold the world up and put in ya bag instead of them globe things
