They played a very weak Washington team and barely won. LSU played a similar opponent, but one who is a 90 year rivalry. And LSU took care of business properly.

Why should a weak team like USC still be ranked #1 when they do not play but 2 games a year and never anyone in the top 10?

Hey Richard c, if Ohio St., beat the heck out of Washington, and Usc barely won, then shouldn't Ohio St. be ranked higher than USC?

perdidob... , by your own adminssion, USC never plays anyone. So how can you call them the best football team in the country if they never paly any of the other best teams? How would you know if USC really was the best? Your answer is a copout answer. The best teams in the country should play the best teams in the country and UC never seems to do that. LSU may play 2 top 10 teams in consecutive weeks and follow that up with 2 more top 25 teams. Again, how can you say USC should be #1?

I've said before & I'll say it again.
It's a popularity contest. USC has the sports writers on their side, therefore USC will not fall until they actually lose a game. No matter if they win by 1 point over Notre Dame & LSU blows out Florida.

I love LSU and the SEC but just because USC struggled last night you can't jump over them yet. You have a good point about the level of competition USC plays vs the SEC schedule of LSU. I do think that Cal and Oregon and Arizona State are very good teams this year in the PAC 10 and could compete in the SEC also. But then if you look at the SEC I think this year like every year you have more good teams than any other conference in the country. LSU, Florida, Georgia are powerhouses again. Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina and yes even Kentucky look like they could compete well in any conference in the country. Tennessee will not go down easily in any of their remaining games either and with the talent level they put on the field I expect this team to pull an upset or two before the year is over. And who wants to play Arkansas? I know they have two losses, but this is a very good team that just needs a QB. If USC can win on the road at Oregon, at Cal and at Arizona St I say yes this is the no. 1 team in the country.

I don't believe in just keeping a team at the top spot....1. LSU 2. USC 3. Ohio State.......the Washington team got destroyed by the Buckeyes at home and is still rebuilding.....USC almost got tripped up and is a clear number two for this week's rankings.

I think that LSU took care of business moreso than USC did. Way more. We sucked in the first half, but afterwards, LSU did their thing. So yes, we should be ranked #1.

But like I've said before, it won't happen. LSU will get way more first place votes maybe, but other than that...they won't give us the top place just yet. Let's see after the Florida game, granted we win

You are totally were right...there is no doubt in my mind nor in the mind of anyone with a grain of common sense and football knowledge would realise that LSU should be #1 in the county...but i doubt that's going to happen because the USC hype machine is going to crank up again and USC will undeservedly come out #1...the Pac-10?!?...are u kiddin me???...the strongest conference is definitely the SEC, followed by Big 12, then Big 10 and then Pac-10 in my opinion...if USC played in a decent conference there is NO WAY they would be able to run the table...LSU should definitely be #1

face it as long as USC wins they'll never drop.. if they beat Duke by 1 pt in OT while LSU blew out the New England Patriots.. USC would hold #1.. it's bias and it's bogus but those are facts.. during that Awesome Florida/Auburn game I was flipping over and checking out some of the USC game.. I am so completely unimpressed with them (3rd time I've watched some of their game).. I suggest they should just lose now and save their fans the indignity that will come when LSU massacres them in the title game

LSU is the best team that I have seen all year. They destroyed a VT defense that is one of the best in the country. i think that USC should be in the top 5, but LSU should be #1.

Come on, since USC is a #1 team, they definitely didn't show that last night. A good team doesn't have 3 plus fumbles/interceptions.

USC is wayyyyyyyyy overrated.
