How do you know what to belief

No. Beliefs are based mostly on feelings rather than rational thinking. Such feelings tend to cloud one's own judgement. Due to this, I find myself to be quite the skeptic when such an unfounded claim about "supernatural" occurences are touted with no real evidence.

It is possible (and preferable) to live without "faith." However, if one feels than one much have faith, then it's one's own personal choice. However, reason and control over one's actions does not require faith.

Another great question, and the people who answered before me had great answers, too. There are a lot of books around now saying God is a myth. At first you are scared to adopt this view, but you realise that truly a lot of faith is based on fear. People in certain religions who think that they will meet their God but spend their lives chanting all day or banging their heads against walls are denouncing life, and I do not think any God or Supreme Power thinks any more of them for it. We seem to be given a life with a million wondrous things to experience, even the difficult times, and it is far better to have faith that there is a reason for all this.Sometimes it is hard to, other times you can see a sunset or a beautiful bird, and it lifts your Spirit. You did not create these marvels, Somebody must have. Keep the faith!!!!

No, I do not have faith. I'm agnostic and have to have proof to believe in something. Like you, I can't trust some mythical 'unknown force'. Clearly we can live without faith, we just have to take responsibility for our own actions and not blame some fairy tale in the sky. It's harder, but at least you live with truth.

Faith is the act of accepting some thing no matter how illogical it may be.
Some people can't live without faith so they can easily obtain it.
Some people don't need it but it's there for the asking.

Faith is a very important thing, but it is something you cannot just have. You have to do what you feel is right, and feel the way you naturally do and the way that keeps you at peace.

Faith is determined by fear. If you fear death, a heaven becomes appealing.
