In '63, JFK relished the notion of running for re-election against Goldwater because of the far right's naive view of the military and how it can effectively be used, that is, the limitations of the military in wielding effective foreign policy.

Seeing Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfield in action has left a sour taste many if not most Americans, though, they may not see this as a weakness of the far right, just the Bush administration (let's all keep in mind his bad approval ratings Bush currently "enjoys").

All that said, is a far right believer capable of managing American foreign policy effectively? What do you think?

I don't think so - we must remember the current GOP is even farther right than the Goldwater Republicans - with the party being taken over in large part by the religious right and their narrow views. Add that to the already hawkish stance and it's clear rational america can't trust them to handle foreign policy.

Iraq is an excellent example - plus the increasing tensions around the world due to it and Bush's lack of a rational diplomatic direction.

No they're not smart enough. They have been molding and representing American policy however, ever since Reagan. This is why the US is seen in the world as a right-wing extremist nation.

Yes, at least unlike the far left they would not give the country away. Fortunately they will never win because most people are in the middle. People are only beginning to see what the far left is really about. Peace

Far right? No.
Neither should Far left.
The majority of this country fall somewhere in the middle, these people need to unite against radical views and take our country back.

No. Nothing they have done in the past 6 years supports this . Not if you want foreign policy that serves the national interest.

While at it look up the great lib congress approval rating (10-16%)

Reagan did a great job of FP. But look at the records of Carter and Clinton

Carter got in bed with the terrorists (Arafat) and Clinton played with a fat intern and a cigar rather than face the threat (see USS COLE and World Trade Ctr)
JFK and Reagan ruled with tough words The libs hate for Bush makes for a weak and pathetic argument
