Do celebs have to much of an impression on todays youth??

I know that celebrities are always goin to have a big impression on todays youth!! But do you think that their impression is to great?? i know that cases of anorexia and bulimia are spiralling out of control but can all this really be blamed on todays sensation with celebrities!! Do you know any stories of where a celebrities impression and a young person has caused harm?? just interested

Yes, I think so. I think it's been getting worse and worse during my lifetime. And especially, as you point out, with regard to eating disorders. When you spend any amount of time on Answers, you will see hundreds of stories where a girl is wretched because she doesn't look like the beautiful models and actresses that are important to her. And boys who are depressed because the girls all look boring in comparison to what he sees in the media.

The other way around, too. Girls get hooked on their favorite "heart throb" from the media, and so look down on the boys in their own neighborhood. And boys feel inadequate because they don't look like those heroes.

A good dose of realism would help, but then we get to the question of the so-called "reality shows." Do the audiences really believe the people who are selected to participate are "average" in terms of their photogenic properties?
