You make them sound like hamsters, I don't suppose the police have large vans full of criminally insane paedophiles touring the streets looking for religious gatherings to infect. It's not like that, when someone has served their prison sentence the cell door opens and they go forth. They might have to see their probation officer for a while but then they are free.
Who informed you this guy was a convicted paedophile? I didn't think the police were allowed to go round tipping everyone off as this could lead to murder or other violence.
As a church you will have sinners arriving for salvation, and secret sinners in the church. It's the ones you don't know about that I'd worry about.
If they are in a position of authority/have a job get a CRB check done and make sure you have systems in place so that no one, not just convicted guys but other children, teenagers and adults can't physically, mentally or sexually abuse your kids. You can't protect against this behaviour by trying to guess who is and isn't guilty - you'll get it wrong and go mad trying. Make sure that kids are supervised by a mixture of parents and staff at all times and are not left on their own with anyone. Not even the Priest, Pastor or Vicar. Time and time again it's the people you trust, family - not dodgy strangers.

Well there was a case in the UK press last year that a convicted paedophile was taking his case to the European Court of Human Rights because he'd been banned from working out in a school gym. the school apparently opened the gym to the public at certain times to bring in extra money, when they found out this guy was a convicted paedo they banned him and in protecting their children like this they were guilty of abusing his "human rights".
Also, my mum lives on a housing estate full of families with children and a couple of years ago, the housing association rented a house to three ex-prisoners who had been released (they apparently get housed as part of there "rehabilitation"). Oh did I forget to mention that they were all convicted paedophiles? Once the locals found out there was hell to pay and the men had to be rehoused for their own safety, but it just shows how the authorities value our children's safety.
And also how much they "care" about decent people when you consider there are homeless families on 7-year waiting lists for social housing and yet these scumbags walked straight in to a house. Lovely.

I have five kids. I take the girls who are 8 and 10 in the bathroom with me. I started letting the three boys go into the bathroom without an adult around 12 alone. I still stand by the door though and I dont care what others think. A 13yr. old girl was raped in a local bathroom here and not a soul heard a thing. My older boys are 16 and 15 they go together. I dont think a grown women should use a public bathroom alone. I seriously am firm on the group bathroom thing.

there are a few ineffective restrictions. but an army of well paid do gooders looking after the interests of paedophiles and actually!! 'believe it or not' encouraging them BACK! among children. to face their problems. add to that the fact that we have a useless impotent police force, there is no one there! to stop your paedophile from moving among your children. family based institutions are the first place a paedophile will go to get back among children. i would say you have a major problem.perhaps the males could make a call and.....discourage him from your group. the police will not intervene until one of your kids have been molested. (keep your kids close and safe.) phaedophiles are realy calculating and cunning. being all PC about it doesnt protect your children. nor does it bring them back from the dead. take no notice of idiots that tell you a pedo has the right to be close to your kids. your kids have the right to expect protection from you.

if you live in Barnet then i think i know who you mean - check with police he may have restrictions - either way if he turns up he can be told to leave - if he won't then call the police - he may either go of his own accord or he might find himself arrested for breach of the peace.
whatever he may say - his sexual preference will remain and your children are at risk.
if all else fails make sure he is never left alone with your children.
although i am an atheist i accept that you are not but if this man keeps attending your church sooner or later the press will get hold of it and assume you are allowing him to be part of your church which will turn the public against you all.

it depends what he did. you should definitely call the police and ask questions about that. they will answer you. Or check their website. Every city usually has the pedophiles listed. See for more info this website:
http://www.registeredoffenderslist.org/what-is-pedophilia.htm
Out of my personal experience I would remove myself from that religious group if that pedophile joins. Better be safe than sorry! We saw how a pedophile destroyed the lifes of my best friends family when such a pig abused their 6 year old daughter.

Yes as they have served their time they are free to go where they choose. Many however are on license and have conditions prohibiting them from certain types of employment around children or access to children.
Every offender released will be monitored and a strict risk assessment carried out to evaluate their potential danger to society upon release.
As a mother myself tho' I know this does little to put your mind at ease.

This has been an issue faced by several congregations recently. Of course balancing the needs of a single parishoner against the potential danger to other members of the congregation is a difficult act.
You should discuss your concerns with your pastor/priest/rabbi/iman/shaman/relgious officiant of choice.

Lighten up, released convicts are not restricted in their movements, unless otherwise specified in their release
conditions. Just go on with your life and leave people alone.
If society doesn't want freed felons to roam the streets, then they should keep them in prison.
