When you say serious things, you actually mean things that are important to you. Also, stupid things are not important if you think they are stupid.
I can't agree more. Silly is good. If only we can be sillier.

Absurdity exists to help us recognize the boundaries of reality. Dipping into its land is a pleasant escape but by definition not a good place to live.
In fact, that is part of why "common sense" is not common. The boundary of what is normal varies from culture to culture. Something witty or silly is only comprehensible if it lies on the border of reality. If there is no commonality (we have nothing in common) then it is not silly anymore it is just confusing.
ADD: One of my favorite self-sayings is...
"Friends are people who can talk in metaphor."
Shared interests, shared experience, shared culture all allow us to communicate an idea more quickly. If we had nothing in common we would have to give a lecture before saying what we wanted to say.

Because they're serious - seems pretty obvious to me. Besides,serious things aren't boring - people are. You can always change your attitude and stop considering things serious. You know things aren't serious on themselves - they're that way because someone qualified them like that. And each person establishes their own priorities so if serious things are more important than stupid ones,it's because you made that choice and,therefore,you're the one to blame.

It is always wiser to pay attention to wise things. And if seriousness is as serious as it has an eternal impact, it is always wiser to give more priority to serious things than stupid things.
