I know what you mean about laughing at funerals. Although I always cry in the service, there's nothing better than reminiscing about the person, (at the gathering afterwards), and smiling or laughing about the things they did that brought so much comfort and happiness to your life. It cuts the tension and doom and gloom as well.

I think crying at weddings is something we do because people 'grow up' and go their own way, to build their own lives. Although it's a 'happy' kind of crying, there is a sense of losing part of your childhood and innocence. It's also because there are two people in front of you, making the most incredible commitment to each other because they are in love. That doesn't half bring a lump to my throat!

I suppose it's nervousness. People are more jittery about how they should be at funerals I think and weddings are so emotional in a way that someone close to you has finally made their way down the isle so they cry. I know what you mean. Funny old world, ey?

I am not sure but I am guessing that the people who laugh at funerals are not close to the one who died. Also we are suppose to celebrate death because that person is going to a better place, but we are only human to cry. I am not really sure about the weddings, but I do know my mom and dad cried like crazy (especially my dad) when I got married because they new "their little girl had grown up and another man was going to be responsible about her). :)))))

At weddings you have to come to terms that two people are united in love and are going into the world as one, causing a peak in emotional stress which triggers the tears... as for funerals, you laugh because your celebrating the life of someone they have who has passed on, remembering the good times.

Other than that reason... I don't know humans are abit sick anyways.

I've laughed at wakes at everything a person used to do. More a celebration of life.
Crying at weddings is something mostly done by the brides parents. Probably because it's a sense of loss that their little girl has grown up & flying the nest.

Emotions.

At a wedding we get all giddy and certain words trigger tears. Big mush pots the bride, groom or best man during his speech at the reception can so happen. Sometimes we can get ourselves so happy and then being caught up in the love 'bug' tears come.

At a funeral we may want to cry but its the words given. They are to trigger thoughts/memories which bring smiles to our face and laughter. Its on purpose. Smiles, laughter NOT tears. That's how we all want to be remembered as we exit.

I've never laughed at a funeral. If I did, it was that bitter type of laughter. The kind where you arent laughing out of happiness.

Think its because at weddings two people are showing how much they love each other and it gets overwhelming for people that two people could love each other so much thhat they want to spend the rest of their lives together, well thats their intentions.

But at funerals try laugh because they think 'hey if was here he/she would'nt want us to be all sad and crying we should celebrate his/her life'.

i think you should cry at funerals tho.
wel if u feel like it!

Well, I cried at my wedding and when I die, I want people to look on the good times we had and share a laugh or two.
