Well it all depends. Maybe your father's spirit is still here. But most spirits are good (at least that is my theroy). Some can be bad though. Have you ever watched "a haunting"? Well it's a show about how the bad spirits stay in people's houses and they start to freak people out. It's a wicked scary show and I have only seen an entire episode once but it you are interested it's on the Discovery channel everyday at 2:00 eastern time.
My neighor had recently lost a dog and says sometimes when he is alone he can hear thr howling of him and he can feel him move across his body or like run pass. He also said he saw him once.
So, I believe they could, but most go to heaven. Hope this helped!

I strongly believe in spirits, ( no I havent been drinking them ) Too many funny things happened after my Fathers death, too strangely to be explained. Cold breeze that would send great chills through me. My father was the type who loved to channel surf, more than once my tv would do just that, while the remote sat on the tv tray. Believe me or not, I do believe.
Heres a story that had happened to me when I was much younger, THIS is the honest to Gods truth !! There was a group of us wanting to talk to a dead person, so we had a seance' there were 5 of us, I still remember their names, Cheryl K. Tommy B. Pete S. Marggie P. and my self, it started out as a joke, but then it got intense, we all sat in a cicle in Cheryls basement no lites but candles. Cheryl was into witchcraft ( more than we all knew ) she kept call Chuck ( a guy we all new that died suddenly ) it started to get reall cold in the basement, Cheryl kept saying give us a sign that you are here let us know that you can hear us, the room got damp and colder, without warning a stove that was sitting behind us, lit up all four burners went up into a very high flame, for a good 2-4 sec. We all jumped up and took off like screaming little kids....... Later ( just minuntes later ) Tommy and I went back to check on the stove, we decided to pull the stove out. The stove was not, repeat NOT hooked up for any kind of service, all the hoses were disconnnected. So Yes their spirits still " live" maybe unfinised things they want to try to complete, or just cant let go. I am sure he means no harm, maybe he's just being playful......

Yes Bella I DO,
My nan died 3 years ago and she was a massive believer,I was washing up once and someone tugged on my skirt hard, I turned around and nothing.
There was no dog,no children cat etc.
I went to see a medium with my nan, as she was still here then,I was told my grandad pulled my skirt.
I miss my nan every day, she was my best friend.
I do believe she is around, I know the bible says different, but things change over time.

Yes I do. I believe that if you were very close to someone that your strong love for each holds you together even though they have passed. I can sometimes still smell my mother's perfume near me when I am alone and need to make a big decession in my life. (Like she is trying to guide me into what to do) Sounds strange but I do believe that she is there.
God Bless and take care of yourself.
