Need help with a impala ss?

Hi my name is Tim Clark and I just recently bought a 1996 chevy impala ss for 1200 dollars but here's the catch the engine caught on fire and burned the top part of the engine everything is lost on top but i belive the engine is still goodbut here is my question I also own a 1994 chevy caprice and i was wondering can I take everything out of my capricr and put it in my impala because my car has a digital dash and the impala has a analog plus the floor shifter if so please let me know because I really don't want to part it out and put everything on my caprice. Impala and caprice motor parts swap How was the fire put out water or chemicals. I would think the auto dismantlers would have intake manifolds and vacuum solonids and Air flow meters fuel metering throttle chambers and under hood parts with out disabling your caprice. Most the time fire that lasts long enough to buckle the hood and melt around the winshield the car is a total. Do you think a 12 or 14 year old car will be reliable enough?

Clonin the Impala SS(or vise versa) is a normal thing I've herd of it alot. Yes, the speedo and the floor shift are different in the 96 models, only. But, that is about, all the rest are the same. Now if, the (94-96)Impala SS and Caprice were the same year model, say they were both 94's. That would even be the same.

The Impala SS'ss and the Caprice are both of the B-body perform and are basicly the same car. Except, for the trim package and it wasn't until the 96 model. That, the Impala SS finally got the floor shift(and the analog speedo) and that was the only(last) yr.

Now if, you can get the (top two)links below to work(they've been down for the last week or so). It has alot of great info on the Impala SS'ss(mainly)/Caprices.

It depends. You already pointed out a couple of differences:

1. Column shifter instead of floor shifter
2. Digital dash instead of the analog dash

But, the Caprice came with an 4.3L L99 V8 and the 5.7L LT1 V8. If the Caprice has the LT1, the swap is fairly easy. You would have to do some rewiring for the dash.
