Have you risen above old teaching about different folks & their way of life or do you still hold onto the old teachings?

I have NEVER, and I mean that--including when I was a child--let ANYONE tell me how or what to think of other people. I have ALWAYS made up my own mind about each individual after full and complete evaluation (mostly).

My only drawback is men I am interested in emotionally. My usually sharp and concise brain seems to take a walk, and my eyes get covered with these nasty rose coloured glasses.

Some of the old teachings were what makes good things
work, Like reading, writing, 'ritmatic. Tolerant to a certain
extent, people have a right to their own choices, if they do not step on others. Acceptance is not submission. Self respect is
a vanishing element. I try to apply:" God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I can not change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference." that's the short verizon...And we certainly can't change or control
others. Nor force love or beliefs. If thats your Q meaning.

I have always tried to live by the golden rule . When I was young I can remember people saying "darn DP's ! When I found out what it meant I couldn"t understand why people felt this way. Why is that people disike others because they are different? We all want what is best for our families ,have a decent home , eat regularily ,go to school, have work to live . I see it all around me again with the arrival of newcomers from Asia . The children are also behaving this way and when I see it I speak up and tell them this is unacceptable behaviour! The young people are in gangs and killing other young people from different cultures .It was in the paper again today . A 19 year old boy of Sri Lankan heritage killed by a gang of black 14 and 15 year olds! this young man was on his way to his workplace, waiting for a bus, He was a straight A student and wanted to be an engineer, gone. His family came here to escape violence in their country. What an irony . I guess this is why Im feeling a little hot under the collar today............... Ranting ,YES

I am intolerant of so called "people with values" who consider themselves moral watchdogs over other people's lives and freedoms and choices. I don't think they're moral, I think they're control freaks.

I cannot abide hatred, violence, ignorance that endangers or creates pain for others, predators, abusers, and all who prey on the innocent and on the weak. And, I would have no problems meting out punishments for those who by their actions evidence no light in them toward others. Let God sort them out at the soul level. In this world we judge actions and the punishment should meet the crime.

Contrary to what I was taught ranging from .....not to question but to obey, a woman's role and place is....,fear of anything not understood, hatred, racism, bigotry, men rule the world, what does a woman need to know, Elvis Presley is from the devil, :O))) etc., I'd say I'm a TOTALLY DIFFERENT person than I was raised to be. And thank God!
Amazes me actually that my own spirit and personality persevered through it all. I have loving tolerance and peace toward ALL people of genuine depth of character and love. Those are inner qualities that have nothing whatsoever to do with color, religion, history, lifestyles, geography or genders.

I was not very tolerant answering my last question.

It actually depends on what you are expected to tolerate. If you are talking about cultures then yes I am. I actually love to learn more about other cultures, their food, their lifestyle and everything else about them.

If people are throwing bricks at my windows, I don't think I'd be expected to tolerate that.

Behaviour depends entirely on the other person, as to how I respond. but I don't usually react. And which old teachings? It's a broad question to answer. If we were more tolerant, we would not have so many wars. so many hurting people.

I really try to be exceptionally tolerant towards other people. I DO want to hear all sides to any story. I however, will turn into a 'HARD ROCK' when ever pushed by another, and have been known to "Tell It Like It Is'! I prefer to hold to the old ways of common courtesy & respect.

I exercise tolerance for differences in people, cultures etc. In fact I tend to seek out different experiences and immerse myself so that I can better understand.

However, I must admit I am intolerant of stupidity born of laziness and refusal to stretch one's mind beyond the easy path of bigotry or embracing what one has always 'known' or believed to be to true.

I can abide ignorance - since that is the lack of knowledge and not necessarily the fault of the person.

I am in no way tolerant of violence, mayhem etc against others.

I try hard to be tolerant of others. But at the same time I am very old fashion in a lot of stuff and ways.

Personally, I have a hard time accepting some of the things people in society do these days. Call me old fashioned if you like, but that's just the way I am. And, I don't apologize for it...

Like money wisdom must be earned over a period of time making it anything but a crash course, hence is one who disguards the old teachings not similar to the fool who is
soon departed from his money?
