No. USC always plays down to their opponents. They have done that ever since Palmer left for the NFL. On some weekends they manage to get up and romp the opposition, but for the most part they just like to go through the motions. There have been a couple of time where their lackluster play have cost them the game like last year against Oregon State and UCLA and also the game against Texas. I think that they like to go into the game and try to find out which one of their weapons is going to step up for them. I really can't blame them, when you seem to have the most deep and talented roster in the nation and every media outlet is calling you the best, it hard to play tough every week.

Also, the PAC-10 isn't the soft conference it used to be. Washington would have a shot against most team in the Big Ten and Big 12. Cal is a tough team and Oregon would be able to play with a lot of top teams in the nation. UCLA also can pull out some points when it wants to also. Judging from yesterdays games, I say that the PAC-10 looks like the best conference in the nation with the SEC just behind.

They are a great team. Great teams play up to the level of competition. Five of top ten lost this weekend and they escaped. LSU was losing AT HOME to a crappy team. It happens. It is difficult to play to a high level every week against all types of teams. Letdowns occur. Better to have a W than an L.

even with three turnovers and 16 penalties, they still won by stopping Washington's offense(190 Total Yards).
