I personally think Hamilton is a phony and that his nice guy image is BS. Some of things he has allegedly said about Alonso, the team should be backing him instead of Alonso, calling backmarkers monkeys, getting into a spat with Ron Dennis are downright disrespectful.
I also think the British tabloids are building him up so they can knock him down.
Still, Hamilton seems very marketable. With a world title in the first year and goodness knows how many more to come, will his earning power make him the richest athlete in the world?
I think he will earn more than Beckham this year. Tiger Woods earns $100 million, but can Lewis overtake him? If Lewis moves to a tax haven, he will pay very little, if any, tax.

He may very well be. McLaren can afford it, and with his world title, sponsors will be paying big bucks for advertising, and you can bet they will.
He is very marketable at the moment.
And yes, sorry to all Hami's fan but ego and pride has got the better of him. Just read about some recent comments he made
McLaren prefers him to win
He prefers Alonso not in Mclaren for 2008.
He will stay in the team, but the team will have to make smart decisions, and he know they will (refering to his wish of not wanting Alonso around)
He's 100% different guy now from who he is when the season started. He now begins to put up his own demands to the team, wanting everything his way.

It is reported that as a rookie, his salary for this year and next is only £100,000. If that is true, he can guarantee to be worth more than Alonso and possibly Schumaker (Michael) was when his contract is up for renewal. Apart from his salary, Lewis is young and looks more like a fashion model than a F1 driver which will make him very sort after for advertising, promotions etc. It's highly likely that with his looks and his charm, he will make more money off track than on.

He will be making $ 22 million a year for the next 5 years, and, this is just his salary. You sound like a bunch of sour grapes to me, he has proved that he can drive in all sorts of weather. Unless you have met him how can you not like him?
