Javis works in an garage for £9 an hour. If he works on saturday he is paid time and a quarter. If he works on sunday he is paid time and a half. Last weekend Javis worked six hours on Saturday and five hours on sunday. How much was Javis paid last weekend altogether.
NOTE: 'Time and a half' means for every hour you work you get paid one and a half hours.

Normal wages /hour = £ 9.00
Wages on Saturday = £ 9.00 x 1¼ = £ 11.25
Wages on Sunday = £ 9.00 x 1½ = £ 13.50
Total wages on saturday = £ 11.25 x 6 hrs = £ 67.50
Total wages on Sunday = £ 13.50 x 5 hrs = £ 67.50
Total wages on week end = £ 135.00

Saturday 6 hours gets him: 6 x 9 x 1.25 = 67.5
Sunday 5 hours gets him: 5 x 9 x 1.5 = 67.5
Total is 135 dollars

1.25 x 9 = 11.25 saturday rate
1.5 x 9 = 13. 5 sunday rate
solution:
saturday pay
11.25 x 6 hours = 67.50
sunday pay
13.5 x 5 hours = 67.50
67.50 + 67.50 = 135

On Saturday= 6 * 1.25 =7.5 hours pay
7.5 hours * £9 = £67.5
On Sunday= 5 * 1.5 = 7.5 hours pay
7.5 hours * £9 = £67.5
In total £67.5 + £67.5 = £135
Javis gets paid £135 for his work

= 9 * (1.25)
= 11.25 per hour on Sat
Time and a half
= 9 * (1.5)
= 13.50 per hour on Sun
6(11.25) + 5(13.50)
= 67.50 + 67.50
= 135.00
