Can't pick just one, so I'll do it by categories:
Drama: "The Shawshank Redemption"
Comedy: "Young Frankenstein". No, wait! "Paper Moon." No, I mean "What's Up, Doc" Oh, damn -- call this one a three-way tie.
Adventure: "Raiders of the Lost Ark"
War Movie: "The Great Escape"
Sci-Fi: "Aliens"
Musical: "Singin' in the Rain"
Romance: "A Room With a View" and "Maurice"
Foreign: "Central Station" [achingly beautiful]
