Most of you have given such great answers! Thank you so much for your help. It's about 50/50 between Norton and Avast! What to do, what to do! lol... I see I can't have more than one going at a time tho and that was the question in the first place. Thank you so much! I'll download and save it to cd til I'm ready for it... Since I bought Norton, I may as well let the time run out! lol... THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!

ok your running vista already wich is a resource hungry operating system as it is. both norton, and macafee are also the same , and will slow your computer to a crawl. i am always highly suspect of anything that comes free witha purchase of a computer and is preloaded like i assume yours was. the program in stores i think is around 60 bucks ,.. so why would they give it to you .. well here is the catch .. you have to subscribe to their update service it may be free for a few months to a year , but you will pay some sort of updating fee once that is done , and let me tell you its not easy to get rid of either.. uninstall still leaves garbage files that still tell you your virus software is out of date ,and need to sign up again to fix the issues (almost sounds like malware) . avast avg software is free, and works great .. i also suggest you get thier anti malware, and spy ware proggys(all from avg as well) .. also download for free spybot search and destroy. with these 4 programs installed and running ,along with windows firewall up , you wont get hacked ,and they all run using less resources then the one single nortons. program that dont protect from all sides .. like the above do..

I've been using Symantec Endpoint Protection for 2 years and I have never had any problems with viruses, spyware, or hacking. While I was in Kuwait someone tried to hack my computer but the Network Threat Protection on it stopped it and quickly warned me. I'm gonna have to go with Symantec Endpoint Protection because it's really good and includes antivirus, antispyware, network threat protection, and proactive threat protection w/ TruScan. Norton Antivirus is just the antivirus.

Yes, you can have them running but it might mess norton up. Also, norton takes up so much of your cpu allready by itself, so running avast also will take easily 5%-15% of your cpu just idleing.
Norton is just a cpu eater, avast or avg are the same in some places better, and dont eat your cpu alive.

It usually messes the computer up or makes it run slow. YOu have good antivirus protection. I like McAfee over Norton. It runs really good and gets rid of everythign and plus it's cheaper.

Its not a good idea to run two anti-viruses at once. It probably won't let you and one will be more than sufficient in vista. Also, anti-virus uses a lot of computer resources, so it would slow down your computer a lot. I would not advise it

No. Because they will fight with each other. Keep Norton. It's the best. That's what I have.

Its not advisable to have 2 anti-virus running at the same time as they may conflict with each other.
