I have had this kind of bleeding before because of my body not being able to handle taking the pill that way on a consistent basis (the skipping periods) so my body tries to force a period of sorts. It is known as breakthrough bleeding. When breakthrough bleeding occurs it can act a lot like a menstrual period.

I would recommend getting in touch with your doctor as well to let them know what's going on so that they can evaluate the situation further.

It's called "break-through bleeding". The dosage or combination of hormones may not be agreeing with your body. This isn't harmful, but it is extremely inconvenient. Talk to your ob-gyn about changing your prescription to another brand or dosage.

You could ask your local pharmacist for free.
