It really does depend on the operating system you are running, with Vista there is an option to lock in the start menu, same goes for 2000 and NT if I recall correctly, for a system running XP or 9x, you could always set a password protected screensaver, hope this was of help

Happened to me at about the same time as everyone else. I was still able to log in on my tablet but I am running my own scan, not using that McAfee program they are providing. Also, I am heavily protected so I can't help but think this is Facebook, in cahoots with McAfee, trying to sell more antivirus programs. It's a load of crap. Edit: My Norton scan cleared a few tracking cookies but my computer is otherwise clean. Now I'm going to have to jump through hoops to get this taken care of since I refuse to download their software. I have all the protection I need and I don't like Facebook forcing me into something I don't need.

Mac or PC?
If ur on a PC:
Home Edition XP:
Click log out and then click "switch to user".
This lets you not log out but still have to put in ur password.
Business Edition XP:
Hold down Alt, Ctrl, Delete at the same time and then click on lock screen.
Mac:
Use spotlight (the search tool in the top right) to search for "keychain". Open it, click "Keychain access" up in the toolbar then click preferences and tick the first box that says "show status in the menu bar". Then close that and click on the lock icon up in the toolbar, and click, "lock screen"

Good Day And Peace Be With To You! :-)
First of all, I think you did not provide more useful information including on what type of OS [Windows, Mac OS, Linux, etc.] you are using.
I hope that the URL that I am providing will give you some assistance. This is only intended for, I think, for Windows XP. I am not that certain if it is for Home or Professional Edition. But I guess you can distinguish it for yourself.
Good Luck! :-)

Go to the control panel (Start, settings, control and set a password for your screensaver.
When you leave your workstation do Control/ Alt/ Delete/ ENTER
When you do contol/ alt/ delete you get a choice of a few commands. The default is LOCK workstation, so ENTER takes that option.
When you come back, you'll do control/alt/delete and have to enter your password to come back on.

Use Ctrl + Alt + Del to bring up the task bar. Select "Shut Down" from Task Bar. Next select "Log Off {name}".
To access the computer the person would have to log in.
