The original idea of freeing up trade barriers was good and made sense. This is the Union the people of the UK agreed and voted for, I think we should stay in that.

Giving power to that union so that it can pass laws and interfere with our Parliament and courts is not a good idea.

All the nations of Europe have different a outlook because of their history and culture, it is good to see these differences. What may suit the lifestyle of say France, may not fit well with the lifestyle of Spain.

Control by one body will never satisfy all the countries and you can end up with inefficient rules that consist of the lowest common denominator . .

I do. We British are being stifled with laws that are made by faceless people who have no understanding of the British people at all. We are being milked of money to support European economies, this money could be better spent on supporting British projects. Most people, I am sure would be all for a withdrawal from the E.E.C. The government should hold a referendum, as they promised to do. I feel that there will not be a referendum due to the fact that many highly placed government ministers are planning to take up European well paid sinecures when their parliamentary days are over, just as was done by the Kinnocks, Leon Britain, Portillo, Hurd and sundry other people !

We should get out now. I believe the first referendum was a fix. Where have we benefitted from membership of this corrupt money guzzling monster? Please don't say trade as we always did that any way. Besides we have nothing to trade anymore, we as a nation produce very little. We have sold off most of our industries and our utilities. Foreigners own a large percentage of land and property, our leisure facilities, hotels, casinos, football teams... the list is endless. truth is there is very little that is truly British left. Legislation is handed down from Brussels from faceless beaurocrats who have no idea of life in the real world. this shower dictate almost our every move. Financially we put more millions in than we ever get back. All our failed and finished politicians end up as fat cat MEPs. licking the a***s of EU ministers. If and it's a big if, we get the referendum we were promised, I still think it will be rigged in it's favour.

I DO!! British politicians have supported the EU, lied and deceived the British voters and signed away rights and freedoms and they have claimed that they wanted Britain to have influence in Europe. This is nonsense.Politicians have sold out the voters to gain personal political influence.
Britain, and the British, have gained nothing from membership of the EU. But membership has cost a great deal.Britain would survive and survive well outside the EU.
Britain would survive and prosper outside the EU. It would be richer and more powerful. And its citizens would regain their lost independence. If Britain left the EU it could regain power of its legal system, armed forces, and agricultural policies.
Gordon Brown won't tell you this but Britain would be much richer if it left the EU. We would save a fortune. And be free of thousands of rules.
The only people who would lose would be the politicians for whom the British stage is too small...

Improve the policies from within, the alternative is the 51 state of U.S.A not a bad choice either, as stand alone Britain is too small on a global scale.

You can dream all you want but it simply can't happen. Two words. Northern. Ireland. You didn't think about that....did you?

Can you imagine all the trouble it would cause if Britain suddenly packed it's bags and left the E.U.? Half the population up there would NOT be happy. It'd be the Troubles all over again....which would NOT be good.

Forget the economy, the politics just won't allow them....

On a personal level, I would have to leave my school. I live in the south, I go to school in the north...it's a very good school, all my friends are there, and I'd loose all that...not to menion I'd probably end up with a full scale war on my doorstep, again.

I sure do,I am hating the wait to see if we get the euro. When it first started we could have got around 1.64 to the £.Now we are lucky to get 1.44 to the £.Say for £1000 you could have got 1644 euro. Now you would get only 1440 euro,a loss of 200 euro.At 1.44 this works out at £138.89 loss, say you have £10,000 in the bank, you are down £1388.90 if the change over comes. If you own a house, value £150,000 at 1.64 your house would have been worth 246,000 euro, now at 1.44 your house is worth only 216,000 euro,a loss of 30,000 euro. Our economy is good so why have we lost so much ground to the euro. You go to Europe for a vacation, they do not even use the 5 cent. All rounded up to the highest 5,the 5 cent even looks like our 1 pence. This would be a bigger rip off than decimalisation. Please let us get out, before its to late.

No sorry i don`t agree. 60% of UK manufacturing goes to Europe they would soon stop buying if we pulled out, geographically we are European, our history and culture is intertwined with Europe. What we should be doing is having a louder more forceful voice and therefore be more involved in the decision making. Sitting on the sidelines and moaning has done nothing for our abiltiy to negotiate EU terms in favour of Britain...

Where would we be without the EU? Look at isolated Switzerland. Mmm, possibly not a good example.
