The good thing about living in a consumerist society is that there is no such thing as a product nobody will buy. You just have to find the right angle to promote it and the group that finds your product attractive. Even **** sells - its a natural fertilizer. But if u try to sell **** to the wrong crowd....well, you know what I mean.
I could give you some pointers as to the approach if u tell us what product it is

I look at this question from a much higher level. The world is flush with too much stuff - products of all shapes and sizes that quickly become obsolete and fill up our landfills.
Rather than asking how to sell a product that no one wants to buy is to ask - How to create a product that people need and want? In this way, you can begin where you should in all good marketing - at the drawing board, and custom make a product that sells itself.
I say: abandon or at the very least redesign a product no one wants and create something useful and necessary to improving the quality of life for people. Such a product will literally Sell Itself, and people will come flocking to your door to buy it!
Great products sell themselves as their intrinsic value is obvious.
It is possible to occasionally have the product that is really fantastic but requires a "education" of the consumer to fully appreciate its value to them. Such products, while they may achieve modest sales overtime, will forever face an uphill battle. Better to not waste precious marketing resources on them and see if they can be redesigned to better appeal to consumer needs.

You have to look at it from a different angle. Find a few good things about the product and play them up. Find a different use for the product and use that, as a selling point. Suggest different reasons why a person may want and/or need the product. State the differences between the product and similar products.

There's this saying that "one man's meat is another poison"
A piece of "junk" to one man is an "antique" and an object of high value to another person.
A product won't be "nobody wants to buy". What you need to do is to identify which aspect/s or quality in that product that you could hype up, and present it to the target market.

You don't tell them what the problem is with the product. Why would you want to do this?
