Although mostly grainy and out of focus, they actually have caught Big Foot on camera. "Patriotic Liberal"........not so much.

The "patriotic liberal" is without a doubt a myth but looking at some of the so called liberal leaders and icons, the Sasquatch is alive and well, feeding on the hard earned fruits of the labors and sacrifice of the truly patriotic in this country...

That, of course, would depend totally upon YOUR definition of "patriotic liberal."

Obviously, from what I've seen in the past on this forum, a lot of cons think that patriotism is defined by how many ribbon stickers, bumper stickers you have on your vehicle, or how big a flag you fly from your front porch. Patriotism - for them - means never questioning or criticizing the almighty Bush.

My definition of "patriotism" is just being a good citizen on a local, grassroots level. It means being a good neighbor - not the kind of lout that would crank up a boom box when most people are trying to get to sleep.

It means making contributions - of time and/or money - to local organizations and charities. It means sharing some of one's good fortune with others who are not as "fortunate."

And, as I've said before, I'm quite "patriotic" in the sense that I take a LOT of care and pride in the parts I produce for the US military. People's lives depend on my work. But, my pride in craftsmanship does not preclude disagreeing with the current administration.

But, I strongly suspect that you were only looking for humorous "high 5s" from your conservative friends with your "question." You really weren't looking for a sincere, mature answer like mine.

Which is what this forum is really supposed to be about...

Some people actually claim to have seen bigfoot. Plus there's all of those native American legends about the Sasquatch but not one about this alleged 'patriotic liberal' ...

Well if you believe patriotism is somehow linked to nationalism then you will never prove the liberal patriot exists. If you have enough common sense to realize that this country was founded by people who question government and that the founders wished for government to be questioned in their every action (whether or not you end up agreeing with them or not) then you will realize that their are plenty of patriotic liberals out their already.

Personally I am tired of this tirade about how not supporting Bush and his war is being a traitor to this country. Especially from a bunch of people who complained twice as much and used far worse language to describe our last president. You can't have it both ways. Either it is always bad to question government (in which case questioning the actions of congress makes just as traitorous as those who disagree with the president) or it doesn't matter if you agree or not as long as you think for yourself.

As for the socialist crap, what do you think no child left behind is? Government paying for people to go to private schools. Definitely not socialist in any way.

Personally I am still waiting to find the free thinking conservative. I am sure they exist but I just can't find any evidence.

I know it angers the republican conservatives that democrats don't care to spend three hundred million a day on a war we had no business starting and that democrats are smart enough to know a losing cause when they see four years of one, however I still think it would be easier to find a patriotic liberal then a true conservative who understands the idea of smaller, less intrusive, fiscally responsible government.

Neither, for this mythical creature, and the liberal, is but an imaginary creature thought to be true by people whom do not know any better...

We will find Sasquatch, a cure for cancer, and the Martians will land on earth before we will find a Patriotic Liberal.
